Key Keeper Series

Every key has a lock. Every lock has two sides.

The Key Keeper Series comprises ten paintings. The metaphor of keys and locks is both intimate and universal, whether literal or emotional.

At its core, the series explores the intimate relationship between keys and locks—man-made objects rendered useless without one another, and powerless without the presence of a Key Keeper. The use of the lock—and the power wielded by the Key Keeper—becomes a narrative catalyst throughout the series, giving rise to stories of love and captivity, secrets and deception, wealth, and joy. These are not passive portraits; they are charged with possibility, each one holding the weight of what is kept in or kept out. Each Key Keeper portrait entices the viewer to become a storyteller, inviting personal interpretation and imagination. The ambiguity is deliberate—each canvas is an open-ended narrative.
